Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
ideaBraid is a local-first application, and privacy is core to its design. This policy explains exactly what does — and does not — happen with your data.
Your data stays on your device
Your maps live as .mind files, only where you choose to keep them. There is no account, no sign-up, and no forced cloud. We never receive a copy of your maps.
No telemetry
The app collects and sends no usage data, no crash reports, and no analytics of any kind. We do not know how you use the app, and we designed it that way on purpose.
AI runs on your key
AI features are optional and connect with your own API key, only to the provider you chose (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, or a local Ollama model). Keys are stored in your operating system’s keychain. Map content leaves your device only when you run an AI command, and only to that provider.
Network traffic is limited to two cases
- The startup update check — an anonymous request to GitHub that carries no identity, content, or identifiers.
- AI calls you initiate, sent to the provider you configured.
Web links open in your system browser only when you click them.
Payments
License purchases are handled by our payment provider, Polar, who acts as merchant of record. Their handling of your payment details is governed by their own privacy policy. We receive only the information needed to issue and support your license.
